A cast of 31 seventh- and eighth-grade students at Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present “Westward Whoa,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, at the school’s Gates Performing Arts Center. The musical performance is free and open to the public.
A cast of 31 seventh- and eighth-grade students at Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present “Westward Whoa,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, at the school’s Gates Performing Arts Center. The musical performance is free and open to the public.
“Westward Whoa” is a fast-paced musical comedy directed by Middle School music teacher Barbara Kopra. The story takes place in the Old West, on Main Street, in the small town of Vinegar Bottle along the Santa Fe Trail. The wagon train, led by Chuck Wagon and Wild Bill Hiccup, breaks down at Whistling Skull Rock.
It is soon robbed by the mysterious outlaw known of as “The Snake,” along with gang members Arizona Kid, Dallas, and Straight-Shooting Samantha. All the townspeople gather in front of the Vinegar Bottle Hotel, run by Cactus Kate and the Sarsparilly Saloon run by Smiling Slade and Sue Flay to solve the crime, elect a new mayor, and watch Juanita Fandango perform.
